First, we and all of our luggage are here safe and sound!!! (You already knew that though..I started this yesterday. :-)) Praise the Lord! Our flights were long of course, but uneventful, which is the best kind. We managed some sleep, so that was good. But, we decided when we start recognizing the waiters/waitresses at Chili’s in O’Hare, we’ve been traveling too much. J This is Pat’s 3rd trip to this country in a year, plus his trip to Argentina. Anyway, we are excited to be here!!!
Ok, it is all coming back to me…the crazy driving (although our driver from the airport was very good), ALL of the trees painted half way up with white paint, the Cyrillic alphabet, cars parking on the sidewalks, the yummy borsch (soup), the huge serving spoons to eat the borsch, all of the smoking (although the airport was not bad, Sarah - it's all been remodeled too)…yep, I remember all of that with fondness. J Hopefully the culture shock will be a little less this time. It is so fun to be back in the capital city, especially since it’s not winter. The weather today is beautiful – breezy and warm, but not blazing hot.
Right now, it’s Thursday afternoon. After our SDA appointment this morning, we came back to the apartment, hung out a bit and then we went out for lunch. After that we Vanya, our facilitator/translator showed us the Golden Gate. Nope, not the bridge in San Fran. J It’s the restored remains of the wall that once surrounded this city in the 10th century. Pretty cool.
Our apartment is right up the road from the main square and is pretty centrally located. We were able to walk to our SDA appt this morning, so it was nice to save some cash and enjoy the weather. Later for dinner, we hope to meet up with some other families here adopting. We met two wonderful families this morning at the SDA – the Cannons and the Johnsons. Very nice people! J We’ll probably walk back up towards the SDA at some point and do some shopping for gifts.

Oh, Jill - you are making me long for the country that I left a few short months ago never expecting to see again. I'm so glad things are going well for you.
Maybe we will meet up when you are on your way home and we are there for our SDA appt. It's scheduled for July 4 - YIPPEE!
