November is National Adoption Awareness Month and today is Orphan Sunday. The Bible commands over and over to care for the orphans and widows. Current estimates place the number of orphans at 147 to 150 million worldwide! A staggering amount...it seems overwhelming. Yet, we are ALL called to do SOMETHING. So many of you reading this have helped in the process of bringing Elijah home. You have prayed, you have donated, you have shown us love and moral support. We are so grateful!!! Not all of us are called to adopt. That's true. But, have you asked the Lord if you are called??? Have you? Have you listened with an open heart and mind? Have you surrendered your will to His perfect will for your life? Just asking... I will fully admit that I never had until that day when God spoke to me that "Aloysha" (now Elijah) was to be our son.
There are many, many ways to help. I'll list some ways at the end, but first I want to share some videos. I hope you will take the time to watch them.
This first one was put together by a RR mom. If you've spent anytime on the Reece's Rainbow site, you will recognize some of these faces. :-)
Well, ok, the other videos I wanted to share, I'm not going to be able to since I have to download them first, and then upload them to Blogger. Our internet connection is too slow for that. So, if you are interested, please click here and scroll about 3/4 of the way down. The two I wanted to post are called "For God So Loved" and "Hope Is Fading". Beware, "Hope is Fading" will break your heart.
How you can help orphans:
I'm partial to Reece's Rainbow of course. :-) Here is a link to the RR Christmas Angel Tree Program. I love this program! Just by donating $35 or more to an individual child, you will receive an Christmas Angel Tree ornament with the child's photo on it. I hope to be able to get a few of these precious ornaments! I'm happy to say that Noah and Anastayisa already have donations to their funds. YAY! The goal is to raise $1000 for each child. The only thing standing in the way of these precious children finding families is money.
Orphans in Africa...The need seems completely overwhelming! Amazima Ministries IS making a difference. Her very moving blog is here.

Ok, that's probably enough for one post. I hope I have given you some food for thought. Please be in prayer for the orphans of this world!
